What roasting to order means here

Most grocery store coffee is roasted on a big production schedule built around shelf life. Roasting to order flips that. You order, or your Orbit Club delivery comes up, and then we roast.

We roast in Miami, usually within 2 to 3 business days after you order. We roast in small batches, light to medium light, for clarity, balance, and the character of the origin. It matters because aroma and sweetness are at their best in the weeks after roasting, and shipping sooner means you get to enjoy that at home.

It only grows in the warm band between the tropics, in a select group of countries with the soil and weather it needs, like Ethiopia, Kenya, Colombia, Venezuela, El Salvador and Brazil.. How to keep your coffee fresh at home

  1. Check the roast date on the bag.
  2. Brew it within a few weeks for the best flavor.
  3. Keep it airtight, away from heat, light, and moisture, and skip the fridge for everyday coffee. Here's our storage guide.
  4. Buy whole bean if you can, and grind right before you brew.

What roast levels do you offer?

I roast light to medium light only, so you can taste where the coffee comes from: the aroma, the sweetness, the character of the farm.

Think of cooking an expensive steak. If you overcook it, you lose the juices and ruin what you paid for. Coffee is the same. Push the roast too far and you cook away most of what made that coffee special. Fresh here means we roast after you order in Miami (typically within about 2 to 3 business days), then ship to the 48 contiguous states plus DC.
