Roasting Process

In order to head to Space, everything must go right.

At SYZYGY, our coffee is met with the same level of passion as rocket engineers have for their spaceships.

We guarantee delicious coffee by making sure quality standards are met from the moment the coffee plant is harvested and after the green bean is roasted and packaged.

We are committed to ensuring this entire process is Perfectly Aligned from beginning to end, bringing you the sustainable and delicious cup of coffee you deserve.

  • A woman coffee farmer is shown smiling, picking coffee cherries from a coffee tree.

    STEP 1: THE ASTRONAUTS

We connect with farmers that share our passion for coffee. Without them, we wouldn't have the quality of coffee we have today.

  • Green coffee beans shown inside a device that measures its moisture content.

    STEP 2: THE RIGHT STUFF

We are obsessive about quality. As Specialty Roasters, we ensure we roast beans that meet standards for size, moisture, look, color, shape, and feel. No exceptions.

  • Roasted beans are shown floating around.

    STEP 3: STATIC FIRE

Only the best beans get chosen to be roasted. Our job is to ensure the best is brought out of each bean through our roasting process, ensuring the best flavors and tasting notes.

  • In the image there are 3 white ramekins with coffee grounds that have been sitting in warm water. This process is part of a process called cupping.

    STEP 4: SIMULATIONS AND TESTING

With Coffee Cupping, we evaluate quality. Here, we compare coffees against each other, allowing us to choose only the best of the best.

  • STEP 5: LIFT OFF!

When the roast has been made, and the cupping finished, the brew you are left with is out of this world.

  • The image shows Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti aboard the International Space Station, looking out the window, while drinking a coffee she brewed using the first espresso maker in space - the ISSPresso.

STEP 6: THE EAGLE HAS LANDED

    Brew, serve, and enjoy!
