What “Syzygy” Means—and Why We Roast for Alignment

In astronomy, a syzygy is a roughly straight-line configuration of celestial bodies—an alignment. We borrowed the word because great coffee feels like that: origin character, careful process, and a roast profile that finally line up in the cup.

Alignment, not excess

We don’t chase novelty for its own sake, and we don’t roast so dark that origin disappears. The goal is balance—sweetness you can taste, clarity you can follow, and a finish that feels intentional. When those pieces agree, the coffee feels “in syzygy.”

How that shows up in Miami

  • Origin: we choose lots that already have something to say
  • Process: small-batch roasting with attention to even development
  • Timing: roast-to-order so alignment isn’t lost on a warehouse shelf

From cosmos to cup

Space is part of our visual language, but the work is terrestrial: green coffee, heat, time, and shipping. The metaphor just keeps us honest—if something in the chain is off, the cup won’t feel aligned, and we fix it.
